The Roots is a cafe that feels like a small slice of everyday French charm tucked into Kongens Lyngby. Situated on Ulrikkenborg Plads, it serves as a casual spot where locals come to linger over coffee and hearty brunches, making it a popular choice to start the day or settle into a relaxed weekend pace.

The seating encourages a cozy, comfortable pause rather than a quick grab-and-go. Guests often come alone with a book or catch up with friends, drawn by the easygoing vibe and the smell of freshly brewed espresso. The menu highlights the basics done well — brunch plates like the Brunch Tallerken offer generous portions that leave diners satisfied, while coffee options such as cappuccino, café latte, and chai latte match the quality of the food. Freshly squeezed orange juice adds a bright, natural touch to any morning visit.

From what locals share, mornings and late mornings serve as the ideal time to soak up The Roots’ atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can spend a leisurely couple of hours, especially on weekends, indulging in their popular brunch offerings without rushing. The interior and feel echo a little local corner cafe in France, which resonates well with those who appreciate an intimate setting that balances simplicity with quality.

Visitors who value good value for their money will appreciate the portion sizes and fair prices, particularly at brunch. It’s also frequented by those who favor an informal space for either a solo coffee or a casual catch-up meal. Whether you’re in for a classic club sandwich or something sweet like pandekager med is (pancakes with ice cream), the focus stays on well-presented food without any fuss.

In short, The Roots serves as a warmly local cafe experience that fits into the rhythm of Kongens Lyngby life — a spot to recharge with good coffee and satisfying food in a setting that invites you to stay a little longer.

Very nice local place with nice brunch menu for a decent price! I was very full after ordering their brunch menu and everything tasted great. The place has a vibe of little local French cafe, love it!

I've been here once, on my first evening in Lyngby and I fell in love. Such a cosy atmosphere. I had a beer and lovely dish (can't remember what it was called, had haloumi, egg and aubergine I believe). So good
